Katie Udd, Owner
As a born and raised Montanan, Katie’s love of the area and community has dug deep roots in Bozeman. After earning a degree in Sociology from Montana State University, she worked as a client relations specialist for several veterinary clinics. Her two decades of customer service coupled with her love and understanding of dogs enables her to provide the best experience for owners and their pets. It is her passion to know each dog on an individual level so they are made to feel safe and fulfilled. She had been part of the Know Thy Dog team for several years prior to purchasing the business from her mentor Kelly Engel. Outside of KTD, Katie enjoys cooking, reading, hunting, fishing, and going for hikes with her husband and their two dogs.
Lindsey, General Manager
Before becoming our General Manager, Lindsey was a veterinary technician at a mixed animal practice for two years. She was born and raised in Bozeman, Montana where she grew up tending to cattle, horses, and chickens. When she is not working at Know Thy Dog, Lindsey pet sits other animal members of our community – including dogs, cats, exotic pets & livestock. In her free time, Lindsey helps out on her family’s ranch or goes hiking with her adopted dog Kaia – who she absolutely adores!
Codie, Photographer & Social Media Specialist
Codie grew up on a ranch here in Montana and has always been a huge animal lover. Her passion for photography started at a young age; she was always taking photos of her dogs, horses, and any wildlife she encountered. She loves being able to comfort clients while they are away, by posting sweet photos of their furry companions. She cares for any animal as if they were her own. Codie has worked at Know Thy Dog for six years and we are so happy she is a part of the KTD team!
Ari, Weekend & Recreation Manager
Ari was born in the Pacific Northwest, grew up in the Midwest and now calls the West home. After graduating with a degree in Anthropology/Archeology from the University of Illinois, Ari slaved away in the food service industry while agonizing over what the heck to do with her life. Finally snagging a position with the Montana Conservation Corps, Ari moved to Montana and spent several seasons digging trail and felling trees, spending weeks in the backcountry at a time. Extremely empowering work for a formerly rather sedentary suburban girl! Now more at home in the mountains than strip malls, Ari found her way to Know Thy Dog in January of 2015 and has been loving on dogs ever since. Ari spends her free time crafting fun things, tending to her plants, and exploring the wilds of the mountains surrounding Gallatin Valley with her husband, Bob and their three pups, Kagan the Kyrgyz Taigan, Muddy Waters the Heeler mix, and Ruaidhrí the Siberian Husky.
Jamaal, Canine Handler
Jamaal grew up in a small town in upstate New York. After earning a degree in Psychology from St. Lawrence University he drove to Montana and decided that he wanted to work more closely with animals. After working in the grooming industry for several years he transitioned over to Know Thy Dog in January of 2020, and he is currently working towards becoming a professional dog trainer. Outside of work Jamaal can be spotted on a nearby soccer pitch, rollerblading around town, and hanging out with as many animals as he can including his two lizards Aku & Korndawg, and his hard-working Brussels Griffon Jacques (AKA Jah $).
Brittany, Weekend Manager
Brittany joined the KTD pack in 2019. After working in the veterinary field and as a ranch hand for several years, she wanted to take her expertise towards a more canine focused field where she could further expand her passion. Brittany is currently working towards becoming a professional trainer to help further her career in the canine field. As a Bozeman native Brittany grew up with a strong admiration for all animals, great and small, but her true passion has always been reserved for dogs. Outside of work, you can likely find her exploring the wilds of Montana with her two German Shepherd sidekicks Vaughn and Vega.
Erin, Canine Handler
Erin joined Know Thy Dog in spring 2021 with her dog Stevie, after moving out to Montana for school originally. She has an extensive career working with animals, from showing horses and being a barn hand, as well as spending 5 years working at a dog boarding facility in her home state of Minnesota, and volunteering at a wildlife rehabilitation center. On her days off, she enjoys spending time with Stevie or working on art.
Madison, Canine Handler
Madison joined our team in the fall of 2021, and her adorable puppy Casper followed soon after. She had several years of pet sitting experience with furry members of our community. There hasn’t been a time in her life when she wasn’t around animals so coming to KTD was a dream job for her. Along with working at KTD she is in the process of getting her Bachelors in Accounting.
Kate, Canine Handler
Kate grew up on a ranch in Paradise Valley helping her family with horses and sled dogs. She also worked for several years at the Human Society of Western Montana in Missoula, where her love of animals was a perfect asset. Outside of work, Kate spends time with her family and in the winter time she is an avid skier.
